Rev. Webster Curtis West, Pastor of Oldest Black Church in Shreveport, Goes Home to Heaven at 83

A well known Ark-La-Tex pastor has passed away.  

Revered Webster Curtis “Take Your Time” West of Shreveport died at the age of 83 on Friday, May 22, 2015.

Revered West pastored the historic Antioch Baptist Church for 21 years. Antioch is the oldest black church in Shreveport founded in 1866.  The church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

A Homegoing service for Revered West is set for June 1st at 11:00 a.m.  Family hour will be May 31stfrom 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Both services will be held at Antioch Baptist Church on Texas Avenue in Shreveport.  Following the funeral, burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery on W. 70th Street in Shreveport.

Flowers may be sent to Heavenly Gates Funeral Home at 1339 Jewel Street in Shreveport.
