 D. Brown was born in Oak Cliff, Texas in 1986. He then moved to Indianapolis with his mother after she graduated from Jarvis Christian College. After graduating from Pike High School with Honors he attended Indiana University in 2004 with a major in International Business and East Asian studies with a focus in Chinese. While he thoroughly enjoyed the 5 years of Chinese study during his high school and college tenure he later realized his passion lied in music and the media and so subsequently changed his major to Radio/Film studies with a minor in Jazz, allowing him to continue playing is saxophone. While in college he worked for WIUX delivering news stories for the college radio station, WTIU (the local PBS station), and IUSTV editing, producing, and directing the daily news and other various programs.

Before coming to KHVN, D.Brown interned in the programming and promotions departments of Radio One Indianapolis. He is now one of the newest family members at Heaven 97 KHVN as the host of the Saturday Night Gospel Show.
