BET’s ‘Celebration of Gospel’ airs with Taraji P. Henson as new host, awesome line-up airs Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 8 p.m. ET

*For thirteen years BET has presented the “Celebration of Gospel,” a two-hour Gospel extravaganza with an awesome line-up of secular and Gospel artists, and this year Academy Award nominated Taraji P. Henson is host for the first time. The “Celebration of Gospel” airs on BET Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 8 p.m. E&P/ 7 p.m. CT.

The line up of artists that will take you to church in song include Chante Moore, Erica Campbell (Mary Mary), Charlie Wilson, India Arie and Jonathan McReynolds, Donnie McClurkin (Richard Smallwood Tribute), KEM, Yolanda Adams, Deitrick Haddon, Tye Tribbett, SWV, Tamela Mann, Lalah Hathaway, Rance Allen, Vashawn Mitchell (Smallwood Tribute), JJ Hairston (Smallwood Tribute), Hezekiah Walker, and more.

“I think everybody here loves the Lord,” said Washington, DC native Taraji P. Henson about the mixed genre line-up. “I am going to have an incredible time.” When I asked about upcoming projects Henson added, “I have a movie called ‘From the Rough’ about a coach at Tennessee State University…she took her golf team to NCAA, and won. First time an American did that with a team.”

Taraji P. Henson is known for her roles in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” (2008);  CBS’ “Person of Interest” as Detective Joss Carter (2011) “The Karate Kid” (2010), and “Think Like A Man” (2012).

The theme for this years BET “Celebration of Gospel” is “Forward in Faith,” and you will surely get your faith renewed watching the two-hour Gospel special presentation.

“I hear they’re doing a tribute to Richard Smallwood,” said Grammy Award nominated singer PJ Morton (Young Money/Cash Money/Republic), the keyboardist for Maroon 5. “I’m a big fan of his songwriting.”

“I want to see all of them,” said Billboard Music winner KEM about the line-up of talent at the BET “Celebration of Gospel” tapping to air Sun. April 6th. “Donnie McClurkin is here, Tamara Mann is here, Tye Tribbett is here, and I’m performing! We’re going to bring the house down.”

KEM recently released an album titled “This Single’s For You” in 2013 with the lead single “My Favorite Thing” featuring Ronald Isley.
